Reported By: Robert G. - Foxford, County Mayo, Ireland - June 25, 2006
Subject: UFO Sighting - Location: Ox Mountains, Roosky Lake, County Mayo, Ireland - Date: June 24, 2006 - Time: 11:00 PM - Witnesses: 1 - Number of Objects: 1 - Object's Shape: Sphere/Ball - There is a body of water in the area - Additional Information: Mountains
Event Description:

I was rowing a boat for a fly fisher at the trout lake where I work which is located in the Ox Mountains, Co.Mayo.

We were fishing late for the late evening sedge hatch. Fishing was good and we had taken about six trout.

While the angler was casting towards another trout, a star or two was showing in the twilight. A movement caught my eye and I looked up. It was as if the brightest star in the sky was moving erratically from side to side and up and down, falling and getting bigger.

As this would be absolutely impossible I was extremely perplexed. I wondered was I seeing things.  I therefore asked the angler to look up and tell me what he could see.

"My goodness what is that?" he asked. Exactly I stated, what could it be. The object was moving towards us very fast and erratically moving about the sky as it came towards us. It soon was larger than any star.

However it was star like in that it emitted very bright and clean white light. It was a large ball of light. A ball of light capable of moving very rapidly.

It came quite close and then changed direction. It was under cloud level, the sky was part cloud but mainly clear.

I asked the angler could he hear anything? Nothing,. "Yes, there is silence" I said. He said there is no smoke, no vapor trail, no noise. "Its moving very fast" the angler said. Yes
but its not making a steady line like a plane would do either. Its erratic in moving up and down sharply as it goes along, odd little jumps every now and then.

"At the speed if a plane did those moves it would disintegrate" I said. "Yes the passengers would be straight through the roof" he said.

It had come towards us, was moving across and was now going away ...  from us.

"Look at the intensity of the light!" I said.  No matter which way it is going, towards us, away from us, up or down, sideways the light is always the same. Its a ball of light, like a big star.

"Its building up speed" the angler said, "Nothing can move that fast." The object covered a vast distance in a short space of time and was gone fading into the distance.

The whole experience lasted several minutes. It was as if it came to inspect us in an excited state, it stopped near us then moved across to the mountains then sped away.

Reported By: William R. - Eire, Ireland - August 30, 2005

Subject: UFO Sighting - Location: Cootehill Cavan, Eire, Ireland - Date: August 29, 2005 - Time: 23:30 PM -  Witnesses: 2 - Object's Shape: Rectangle - Number Of Objects: 1 - Object had lights - Object had an Aura or Haze around it - Addition Information: Rural countryside North Cavan border Monaghan
Event Description:
Wife and I walking the dog, really clear starry night.

First saw a shooting star in the North east of the sky, then my wife pointed out, "What is that?"  Strange light moving north west heading towards Monaghan and Fermanagh.

It flew in a really strange way unlike any plane I have ever saw and it executed a couple of 90 degree turns but always came back to its flight path.  It also sort of swayed from side to side moving very quickly.  Lost it when it went over a near by hill.

Reported By: Mark - Dublin, Ireland - January 14, 2004
Subject: UFO Sighting - Location: Dublin, Ireland - Date: January 13, 2004 - Time: 10:45 PM - Witnesses: 1 - Object's Shape: Light - Number of Objects: 3 - Object had lights - Additional Information: South County Dublin
Event Description:
At approximately 22:45, I saw 3 lights directly above in the sky.  There was some high cloud cover in the West but otherwise it was relatively clear.

The three lights looked like stars but moved quickly in a rotating pattern in a South-South-Westerly direction. The sighting lasted about 5 seconds at which time they disappeared out of sight.

The lights moved in a coordinated fashion and we definitely not shooting stars, planes or anything else I can think of.

Reported By: Majella Mc - Donegal, Ireland - August 27, 2003
Subject: UFO Sighting - Location: Killybegs Co. Donegal, West Ireland - Date: August 25, 2003 - Time: 10:30 PM - Witnesses: 4 - Object's Shape: "Flash" - Number of Objects: 1 - Object had lights - Object emitted beams of light -
Event Description:
It was a beautiful starry night and my husband got a telescope for his birthday in April, so we have been taking full advantage of the good weather and visibility this last week.

We had been outside for about a half hour and he was focusing on Mars, and my self and my two sons were taking turns to look. We seen shooting stars, aeroplanes, a satellite, but this appeared very suddenly. It was a bright light which I automatically thought was an aeroplane, but with the second flash, I know it was much to bright and had moved to quickly.

The planes crossing over us (usually headed for America) fly on an east/west path, this was due south overhead and moved northerly. The flash it omitted reminded me of a camera flash, but it appeared to pulsate and it moved erratically across the sky, it was a truly bizarre sight. Then it just disappeared as suddenly as it had appeared.

Friends of ours who are also amateur astronomers seen, what seemed to be something very similar the same night but two hours later.  In all the years I have been looking at the sky I have never seen anything unusual, so this was quiet exciting.

Reported By: Linda - Dublin, Ireland - August 12, 2003
Subject: UFO Sighting - Location: Dublin, Ireland - Date: August 12, 2003 - Time: 2:30 AM - Witnesses: 2 - Objects Shape: Light - Number of Objects: 1 - Object became transparent - There is a Public Airfield in the area - Additional Information:
North County Dublin
Event Description:
Background:
Every year in mid-August, I sit outside and watch for the Perseid meteor showers - usually with my two sons.  This year has been particularly clear at night in Dublin, so we have been sitting outside for 2-3 hours every night for the last 3 nights - usually after midnight.

During this time we saw several interesting things in the sky, but nothing unusual until the 3rd night.  (We saw a good number of Perseid "shooting stars" overhead, and also the planet Mars toward the south; a flock of birds flying in a "V" formation at night; the faint trace of the Milky Way; high flying airplanes & satellites, low-flying airplanes with blinking colored lights.  We didn't see the International Space Station recently, but have seen it in the past.) I don't recall seeing anything odd in the night sky in my life. I consider myself to be a skeptic, but with an open mind. I have a science degree.

The "Event":
We tend to look up into the sky quite a bit.  We live 3 miles from Dublin Airport, so we are used to the flight patterns of the airplanes.  We noticed that a high-flying airplane or satellite appears as a light in the sky that goes in a straight line at a steady speed.  Sometimes an airplane will blink or might gradually fade in & out of brightness as it goes across.

But around 2:30 AM on 12 Aug 2003, my sons and I were looking overhead (at the area around the Cassiopeia constellation) and a "funny airplane" appeared overhead, out of nowhere, starting with an eye-catching bright flash or blink.

We watched this white light heading generally toward the west or northwest, and it blinked on off as it moved, and seemed to be moving a bit erratically.  Then it turned about 90 degrees and started heading toward the northeast.

I don't think the direction change was exactly "instant", but it was much faster and sharper than you would see for a commercial plane, and seems unlikely for a typical military aircraft (i.e. that I've seen at air shows). There was no sound, but then you don't always get a pronounced sound with a high-flying airplane.

This "funny airplane" seemed to have a side-to-side wobbling or slight zigzag motion as it went toward the NE in a relatively straight line. Then it suddenly "disappeared," while it was still generally overhead.

The sighting was relatively short - probably under one minute.  The 3 of us agreed that it was very unusual compared to all the other vehicles we had observed for the past 3 nights and at other times.

Does anybody have any explanation?  I would love to know what it was.

Reported By: Barry D. - Dublin, Ireland - February 3, 2003
Subject: UFO Sighting - Location: Dublin, Ireland - Date: 03/02/03 - Time: 00:25 AM -  Witnesses: 2 - Objects Shape: Light - Object had lights - Object had an Aura or Haze around it -  Object emitted beams of light - Object changed colors - Object hovered - There were High Voltage Power Lines in the area - There is a Public Airfield in the area.
Event Description:
As I have said at first witnessed it moved in a conventional way, flying in a straight ascent. I called my wife to see the bright flashing lights and remarked that it was not the usual type of lights affixed to conventional aircraft, be it civilian or military. Due to the US Military build up in the Gulf, we have seen a number of US and unmarked Military planes fly over head. Anyway, this flying object with its continuous flashing lights then started moving in a very strange way.

The first ''Strobe Light" effect from the object flashed and lit up the surrounding area of sky, then it suddenly changed direction is a smooth snake like motion. Then in a small sharp zig zag move, then again climbed  rapidly, then made a dart like move across the sky. It left a spectacular trail of light when it performed this manoeuvre .

My wife at first who had continuously said it maybe a plane, suddenly stopped and shouted ''Oh my GOD''  and still did not want to believe her eye's claimed. It must be a plane, but as I said to her there is no sound , ( the night was clear no clouds, very cold, frost had covered the roofs of the houses at the back of our house) The object continued to ascend slightly then level off. Then it continued towards the area of Dublin airport. That's when my wife got really freaked.

The object then suddenly stopped, hovered for about 3 minutes approximately,   the lights continued to flash, but the ''Strobe Light" 'flashing became more rapid. Then the object itself  just disappeared. No trail left, nothing ... just disappeared. It was like it had a cloaking device, but what do I know? It was the only way I could explain its disappearance.

Its not the first time I have witnessed a similar object but the difference was that it was so close. The other 3 times I have witnessed an object move in a similar fashion ... same kind of lights, but move off with such speed. But, this time, the object ... well, it was like it took its time in flying overhead then? It just disappeared.

Reported By: Thomas - Tullamore, Co Offaly, Ireland - 7/15/02 6:13:05 AM
Subject: UFO Sighting - Location: County Offaly, Ireland - Date: 07/21/01 - Time: 20;10 PM
Witnesses: 1 - Objects Shape: Sphere - Number of objects: 1 - Object had lights - Object became transparent
Event Description:
While standing at my front door (south facing) I noticed a bright light approximately 1 mile away near local river. It was low flying as trees would periodically obstruct view. It would illuminate for about 90 seconds and then fade out.

I drove to a position close to the river and got out of my car. This was a quiet rural area and as I watched the sky, the object lit up approximately 20 meters to my right and 30 meters from ground.

It was spherical and covered with different coloured lights. From my vantage point, it appeared to be rotating slowly clockwise and it was soundless. It remained in this position for again 90 seconds (approximately) and then faded out to be transparent/invisible. It illuminated again 60 seconds later about 1 mile away moving south.

Subject: UFO Sighting - Dublin, Ireland - Zip Code: 24 - Date: 27/6/02 - Time: 1:10 AM
Objects Shape: Light - Object had lights - Object emitted other objects
Event Description:
I was lying in bed looking up at the sky when I saw a greenish/yellow blurred light. I put my glasses on for a better image. I noticed it was very high up, higher than a plane and was moving slowly. I also noticed then as it was moving, it released 4 smaller white lights which streamed off into different directions until they vanished.

I watched the light until it disappeared from view. I can tell you that it was not a star or a weather balloon or anything like that. I Informed my brother and suggested that it could have been a rocket releasing it fuel tanks. What ever it was, it got me thinking about life elsewhere in space.

Reported By: Michael D. - Dublin, Ireland - April 7, 2002 at 16:10:28
Subject: UFO Sighting - Location: Dublin, Ireland - Zip Code: D14 - Date: 4/7/2002 - Time: 9:20 PM
Witnesses: 2 - Objects Shape: Light - Number of objects: 1 - Lights: Object had lights
Event Description:
This is my second time to see something that wasn't a plane. I made the "Reported By: M - Dublin, Ireland - January 14, 2001, at 13:59:37" report on this site.

I was leaving to get a video at around 9:20 PM on Sunday April 4, 2002. I stepped outside and was waiting for a housemate, when I saw a plane flying in low for Dublin Airport.

So I was looking at the sky, and I then saw, moving across the sky in a west - east direction, what I presumed to be a plane at altitude. I went back inside and got my binoculars (7x 50) since I like looking at planes. When I came back outside, my house mate had joined me. Using the binoculars I looked at the aircraft, which was still approaching (not yet overhead), and expected to see wing lights, but did not.

Basically, we (me and housemate) then watched this light move over us. It still gave the impression of a plane at altitude, but was moving at a speed that would have indicated an altitude low enough to make out some wing lights. There was no sound, and the light appeared as a bright colourless dot through the (sharply focused)
binoculars. The light was also varying slightly in position (not a straight flight line, a "straightish" line with slow subtle "wobbles").

We both saw this, and although it's difficult to judge movement of this kind in the sky, I certainly saw it moving so in reference to a star behind it whilst using the binoculars. I watched it through the binoculars until it was out of sight.

Probably some kind of balloon, but anyway...

Reported By: R.Finnerty - Galway, Ireland - March 2, 2002 at 09:38:56
Subject: UFO Sighting - Location: Galway, Ireland - Date: 01/15/02 - Time: 11.30 PM
Witnesses: Don't Know How Many - Objects Shape: Other - Number of objects: 1
Object had lights - Object emitted beams of light - Object changed colors - Object hovered
Object became transparent - There was a Radio and or TV transmitter near by
There is a Public Airfield in the area - Additional Information: Galway, ireland
Event Description:
On this night, at about 11:00 PM, I was listening to my radio, I was in bed at the time. As I was listening to my local radio station (Galway BAY FM) someone phoned in and asked had anyone seen the lights in the sky.

I waited a few moments before I jumped out of bed, grabbed my clothing, I ran outside. The night was clear, I gazed at the stars beaming down at me. Just as I was about to give up, I looked up to the direction the phone caller had alerted me to. Then as I took a second glance I got it....it was high in the sky, maybe 1000 feet. It wasn't directly above me, but maybe at an angle of 80 degrees in front.

As I looked, I could see it had three lights: red,green/orange and blue. It was about the length of maybe ten planes (Boeing 747s) stable in the night sky. It didn't move firstly, then a minute later it seemed to move maybe 500feet.

As I got my expensive camera out, I realized that my batteries were dead (what a time it had to happen), so I got my Mums. I took a few photo's, but I didn't have a powerful zoom like I did on my own. I might have taken 20 pictures. So, I sent them away to get developed, but I might need a top class photographer to maybe enlarge them.

Anyhow, back to the Sighting. The craft changed from a horizontal line of lights, to a vertical line of lights. I screamed at my younger brother to come out to see what I had been looking at, and yes he could see the craft too.

After about 20 minutes, the clouds appeared and the object still in sight, seemed to have been covered by a blanket of clouds. So I waited for maybe 15 minutes, but the clouds got thicker and then it started to rain. So to this day, I am still looking UP!

Subject: UFO Sighting - Location: Dublin, Ireland - Date: 01/14/01 - Time: 9.35 PM
Witnesses: 1 - Objects Shape: Light - Object had lights - Additional Information: South Dublin
Event Description:
I was taking in clothes from the line on a cold evening (this evening, half an hour ago). Before going back inside I was looking up at the stars, as they were very clear. I then noticed (nearly directly above me) two lights, perhaps reddish in colour, moving from west to east.

I watched them until they were out of sight about twelve seconds later. They moved relatively quickly across the sky. They moved side by side. They constantly varied slightly in position (quite quickly) to one another.

I waited after they were gone to see if there was any extra aircraft noise. There was none. The way in which they varied slightly in position to one another leads me to believe that they were not aircraft. I was an aircraft enthusiast for many years when I was younger, these were not aircraft.

I reckon they were birds with lights tied to them. I'm basing this on the way in which they varied in position and made no sound. Ducks perhaps????? Anyway, it's still a UFO, and who the heck has been going around tying lights to birds? I've never been to this sight before, I'm 27 years old wearing spanking new prescription contacts (they're sharp), and if anyone knows about the birds/lights thing please mail me. MD.

Subject: UFO Sighting - Location: WEST CLARE, Ireland - Date: 23-04-2000 - Time: 22.00 HRS PM
Witnesses: 4 - Objects Shape: Light - Number of objects: Two
Additional Information: This is to say we saw the same lights
Event Description:
Just read about the people from 'Kilkenny's' experience. Myself and my sons saw exactly the same things. We live in County Clare. We regularly watch the sky at night and know the difference between satellites, aircraft and 'shooting stars', etc.

Had to confirm their sighting. We are sure there are a lot more unusual sightings here, but people just brush them aside. I repeat, our sighting was exactly like that described by the 'Kilkenny' people.  If we have any more sightings, we will inform you immediately.

Reported by: Tom - Dublin, Ireland - February 28, 2000 - 7:35 PM EST
Subject: UFO Sighting - Location: Dublin City center, Ireland - Date: 2/28/2000 - Time: 22.23
Additional Information: Northside of City Centre (Dublin) - Number of witnesses: 2
Objects Shape: Unknown - Number of objects: 1 - Lights: Object had lights
Event Description:
My friend and I were in my car driving towards the city. We were stopped at traffic lights when I spotted lights in the sky above 3 story flats. Not directly above the flats, but behind. The object was large, about the size of an airplane which was very low in the sky. These lights were not moving. There were about 3 white lights a red light and possibly a green light. It did look very much like airplane lights, but airplanes don't stop in the sky. Both myself and my friend saw this.

Next it moved straight ahead, not very fast, slowly but very smoothly. We had our windows open at this stage but could not hear a thing. This object was quite low. I couldn't make out a shape but the underside of the object looked grey. We had moved from the traffic lights at this stage. We had traveled about 200 meters when we were stopped at another set of traffic lights. The object stopped dead again and then moved swiftly at a 90 degree angle. Again it moved very smoothly but faster.

We went through the traffic lights and took a left turn about 150 meters from the lights. We could now see the object in the far distance, where it stopped again. We stayed there about 3 minutes, looking at the object which stayed still. Within the time it took for me to pull the car in after the traffic lights, the object had traveled a great distance (within about 1min or less). The object was now about the size of a bright star.

We left to go to my friends house which was just around the corner to get a better look, but by this stage we could no longer see the object. This only happened about 2 hours ago, so I am still quite amazed or shocked or excited. The most amazing thing about the object was its movement. It wasn't a plane or helicopter, at least not one I know of. Speed and movement were very different.

I would be very pleased to hear anything you have to say. I have never looked at any Internet sites on UFO's before, but I can tell you now, I will be taking a closer look at these sites now and a closer look at the sky.
