Reported By:  LW. Location, Las Vegas, Nevada.   Sept 9 2004.

Subject: UFO sighting. Location: Las Vegas, Nevada. Date: August 13, 2004. Time: 9.00 PM.  Witnesses 4. Objects shape, Lights.  No of objects 10+/-.

Event Description:

We were sitting at a table outside our hotel.  It was about 9:00 - 9:30 p.m.  We were
looking at the sky, and suddenly we saw this sort of fishtail of lights come
"swimming" through the sky.  They were moving in unison, but not necessarily in
an orderly fashion.  They "swam" into view, and then disappeared behind the
clouds within a matter of about 15 seconds.

Reported By: Manuel R. - Odessa, Texas - September 2, 2003
Subject: UFO Sighting - Location: Las Vegas, Nevada - Date: September 8, 2001 - Time: 9:00 PM - Witnesses: 9 - Object's Shape: Oval - Number of Objects: 1 - Object had lights - Additional Information: On top of the Mirage Casino
Event Description:
It was around 9:00 PM. We were driving on Boulevard Las Vegas, recording everything.

We got to the motel room at 12:00 Midnight, when I decided to replay the video.

I saw something on top of The Mirage. My first reaction was that I started jumping and got scared, so I told my wife about it and she saw it too!

It think it was a real good experience. We also have the video tape. I wish you could see it.

Reported By: Derek - Halleck, Nevada - February 15, 2003
Subject: UFO Sighting/Strange Encounter - Location: Near Halleck, NV - Date: November/December 2002 - Time: 12:30 and 1:00 AM - County Sighting took place: Elko - Witnesses: 1 - Shape, Size, Altitude, Speed all unknown - Additional Information: Hwy. 229, 10 mi. SE of  I-80, 25 mi. ENE of Elko -  No discernible features, just black void that cast giant shadow on ground - "Top secret "X-craft" test flights may not be restricted to Nevada's designated testing ranges."
Event Description:
Between 12:30 and 1:00 AM, on a Saturday night in late November or early
December of 2002 (not sure of exact date), I was driving my truck northwest
on Nevada State Highway 229 just a mile or two north of the Lamoille/Ft.
Halleck Road (dirt), from which I had just exited.   I was scouting out good
vantage points for nighttime photography of the Ruby Mountains, the West
slopes of which were now about 7 miles behind me.

Under a mostly clear sky with a bright moon, I was cruising very slowly
along the road, stopping occasionally to glance back and evaluate the
panorama for good shooting locations.   This was perfectly safe to do because
the road has an EXTREMELY low volume of traffic, especially at night.   As it
turned out, on this particular night I encountered no other vehicles on the
road.   Hwy. 229 is used primarily for access to local ranches and to the
Ruby Marshes Wildlife Refuge (about 60-70 miles south and lying on the East
side of the Ruby Range), and for all practical purposes would give one the
impression of being a closed, but well maintained seasonal road.

I had just descended into a shallow "dip" in the landscape about a half-mile
across and then came to a complete stop.   I turned off my lights so I could
better view the full distance behind me, and left my engine running just in
case I had to quickly clear the way for any approaching traffic.

My truck windows are heavily tinted, preventing one from getting a crystal
clear view of distant nighttime surroundings.   Since it wasn't too frigid
outside, I rolled down my driver's side window to look back toward the
mountains and see if any light pollution was visible from rural homes or
ranches.   However, this only gave me a good view of everything on my side of
the truck, so I had to alternately look through the back window to see the
land to the rear and rear right.

While I was turned to my right and looking out the rear window, I became
aware that the bright moonlight I had been bathed in all night was suddenly
not there.

As I described to a friend recently, what happened during the
next few seconds was a lightning fast series of thought processes in trying
to rationalize why the moonlight was gone when no clouds were present to
obstruct it.   At no time was I in a panic.   Everything happened too fast for
me to develop any sense of fear about the situation.   Maybe that's because I
was preoccupied with my "mission" and not dwelling on thoughts of being all
alone and vulnerable out in the middle of nowhere.

I guess my first reaction was to look up through the rear window thinking I
might spot a large owl or other nocturnal bird of prey, which had swooped
down low over the truck.   I saw nothing ... and I mean NOTHING ... no moon
... no stars ... just pitch black.   However, the shadow covering me
persisted.

I shifted my eyes downward onto the landscape behind me and
could see a sharp outer boundary of the shadow about 1/8 of a mile back down
the road (beyond that, the land was visibly lit by the moon).  I then spun
around and looked out my open driver's window to see the western boundary of
the shadow, about 100 yards away, moving at a brisk pace toward me.   So
whatever was casting this shadow was moving west to east.

I stuck my head out the window and looked up, but I saw absolutely no
discernible shape; just a mysterious mass of darkness the size or altitude
of which I simply could not determine.   In the span of about 15 seconds, the
shadow moved across the area where I was parked and disappeared over a low
hill to the east side of the highway.   The moonlight now once again flooded
the truck and immediate surroundings.

Not having seen or heard the source of the shadow (my truck engine remained
running during the incident), I have absolutely no idea how big or how high
the object was or how fast it was moving.   All I know is that it was huge
enough to cast a shadow I estimate to have been up to 1/4 mile across and
moving about 30 - 40 miles per hour.

The odd thing about this whole experience is that I never felt frightened or
in any kind of danger.   I knew that something strange had just happened, but
didn't really fathom the weirdness of it until sometime later.

All the above is fact as I remember it.   Now for the conjecture.   My
conclusion - then as now - is that the object was some sort of experimental
aircraft, perhaps a mega-sized "stealth blimp" much like that reported
numerous times since the early `90s.  I believe one of the most famous
sightings of such a craft occurred just a few years ago in southern
Illinois.   It was reported by several policemen, who tracked it into
Missouri.   If what I witnessed (or didn't witness) was some kind of
experimental military craft, it was far from any test facility, where you'd
expect to find such a vehicle.

Could it be that developers wanted to see  how far out of the safe zone they could fly this thing without being spotted by the citizenry?   Unless someone else saw it before I did, then the testers succeeded in flying the device some 300 miles from the nearest test site - the Nellis Test Range (part of which is better known as "Area 51")- before it was spotted ... or at least detected by yours truly.

Even if anyone else on the ground experienced what I did that night, they
were probably just as perplexed as I when they looked up and couldn't see
any definite object in the sky above.   So the question to you readers is if
any of you have encountered such weirdness elsewhere in Nevada or any other
place.

One interesting sidenote to this: Just recently, I caught the tail end of a
local radio news report about the sighting of an "unknown, unauthorized
aircraft" flying low over ranchland in the Crescent Valley area (90 miles SW
of where my encounter took place) and heading in the general direction of
where I had my experience.   I didn't get enough details about that
particular sighting, but I gathered from the story that it was a follow-up
to a previous report from some weeks prior.

I'm now wondering if that sighting actually occurred the same night as mine.   If there is anyone out there, especially in the Elko, Carlin or Crescent Valley area, who might
have more info about the other sighting, I'd like to know so I could follow
up and maybe start piecing together the puzzle.   If this is indeed some kind
of blimp, how big could it possibly be ... and why would it be so big?
Other thoughts?

NOTE: Additional Info provided by Derek, February 16, 2003:
Nancy,
Thanks so much for the reply.   I wasn't sure if the transmission went
through or not.

I'm glad I provided enough details, although I'm sorry I couldn't give a
more specific date or a more specific description.   It's hard to describe
something you can't really see.   I really didn't think of the incident as
being significant enough to report at the time, but after continual prodding
from a good friend and after hearing the radio report a few weeks ago, I
reconsidered.   Your site is the first place I've "officially" reported the
event.   If anyone is interested in investigating this, I'd be happy to help
all I can, provided I am still living in the area.

After posting my report, I browsed some of the other accounts to see if
anyone else had ever reported something similar.   Damned if I didn't find
something!   Someone in Salt Lake City (about 250 miles east of here)
reported an almost identical low-flying "darkness" that to them appeared to
deliberately avoid being seen.   You can find their report by searching for
"Utah" sightings with "Unknown" or "Other" descriptions.   If I remember
correctly, the event was reported as occurring in September or October of
2002.

After having read the Salt Lake account and one or two roughly similar
reports from this general region, I'm becoming more convinced that there
could indeed be some new generation stealth craft being tested right under
our noses.   I'm awfully far from Area 51, which to my knowledge has not been
in much use during the last 5 or 6 years anyway, so I can't imagine any
craft venturing so far from there.

However, it's possible that a test facility in west central Utah (maybe a little closer to me) could be the origin of this thing.   A closer facility might explain some mysterious, huge sonic booms - or more accurately, powerful atmospheric concussion waves I've experienced while living here during the last couple of years.   That's a whole other topic of discussion in itself, but could be related.

Anyway, thanks for the quick response.   Hopefully, your group can get
some corroboration on this from other sources and determine just what it was
I encountered.   If you find anything out before I do, please let me know.
My curiosity has been piqued.
Derek

Object had lights - Object had an: Aura or Haze around it - Object hovered - There were aircraft in the area - The event took place near: A Military Airfield or Base -
Additional Information: Sahara and Eastern LV, NV
Event Description:
Have you received any e-mail from Las Vegans about a sighting yesterday 1/9/03 *in* Las Vegas at around 5:30 PM ???

I was driving down Eastern Avenue to Sahara when I saw a small object in the sky and moments later a large craft appeared to be hovering fairly low over downtown for about 5-7 minutes.

Cars on the street I was on were pulling over to look at it. About three minutes later three-four smaller helicopter type craft appeared around it. We didn't see it leave because we lost it behind some buildings.

I thought it might be apart of a filming of something but it was too weird and you'd think they'd do some special effect like that on a computer. I've tried looking it up online and in the newspaper but I haven't found anything.
Any Help would be appreciated.
Donna J.
P.S.   I am not crazy.

Reported by: Steve - England
Description of Event:
Hi, I live in England and we just got back from a trip to Vegas. On the 27th 2002 Feb we drove to Zion park and Bryce Canyon in Utah, we finished in Bryce at 5 PM and decided to drive back to Vegas that night.

We were driving from Mesquite to Vegas on Interstate 15, about 9:30 PM, clear, starry night, my wife was asleep, I was doing 80-85, not very much traffic when I saw a truck in front of me in the slow lane, I indicated to pull out, looked in my mirror and jumped with fright.

In my mirror two strong lights were following me about 30-40 feet behind the car. One was 15 feet off the ground and the other was 25 feet off the ground, they were bobbing about independently, but following right behind the car.

I screamed for my wife to wake up and at the same time pulled into the overtaking lane as I nearly rear ended the truck. When I looked again from the fast lane they were gone. I leaned out of every window to see if I could see any aircraft flying away but nothing. Steve

Witnesses: 3 - Objects Shape: Light - Number of objects: 3 - Object had lights - Object emitted beams of light
Object changed colors - Object hovered - Other: See explanation below
Description of event:
Over a year ago, my mother, brother and I were driving home one night from one of my soccer games.  We were on the freeway and I looked over to my right and saw three objects. At first I didn't think it was anything. But then my brother pointed out how they were moving way too fast to be a plane or helicopter.  They had bright lights all around them. They kept moving and they made two different formations, once in a diamond then a line. We were like cool and then we turned our heads for a second and when we looked back up, they were gone.

Subject: UFO Sighting - Location: Las Vegas, NV. - Date: November 1998 - Time: 8:00 PM
Additional Information: From atop the Stratosphere Tower
Number of witnesses: 10 - Objects Shape: Oval - Number of objects: 4 - Object changed colors
Description of event:
While working on the rides at the Tower, I was standing with about 7 guests, watching the Big Shot (A thrill ride) getting ready to be shot off. We were all looking up and slightly south, when all of a sudden four objects flying in a diamond formation became visible over the top of the tower. They were all glowing brightly when first seen, but as they moved, they started to flicker as if they were cooling from coming into the atmosphere. Then, one at a time they quit flickering and became harder to see. They were completely out of sight within about ten seconds, heading in the general direction of Area 51.

It was really strange how the crowd reacted. A fellow coworker and I looked at each other in amazement and speechless. The crowd which I am sure had seen the objects, because one of them had said "look" and pointed up at them. Without a word, all just went to the elevator and went down. There turned out to be three of us who worked there who had witnessed this event.

When we tried to share our experience with others there, we were met with snickers and laughs, with the exception of two girls who had worked there for quits some time. They told me that they had witnessed exactly the same thing a couple of months previously. Since that time, I've had a lot of people tell me of their own personal sightings from the tower.

Sighting Location: Goldfield, NV.  On Hwy. 95 Date Of Sighting: June 12th, 1999 - Time Of Sighting: 2:30 am
Object(s) Shape: Disc Shape - Did the object have lights? Yes - Color, Quantify, etc: Several blue lights
Object(s) direction of travel: East
Description of event:
I was traveling to Reno, NV to visit my parents and I saw a strange object. It had several blue lights. The lights were not flashing on and off, but they pulsed, becoming bright then dull. The object was definitely disc shaped and had no wings of any sort that I could see. This object would hover for a few seconds, then move quite quickly to the East for a few seconds then hover again. I watched this for about 4 to 5 minutes, until the object shot straight up and disappeared. The size of this object seemed to be about the same size of a small airplane.

Sighting took place on: 5/22/99    2:30 AM - Reported: 5/23/99 - Location: South of Hawthorne, NV
Description of event:
While traveling to Las Vegas on Hwy. 95, my wife and I saw three Large Triangular shaped objects moving towards the east. They passed right over our car at a very low altitude. So close in fact, we thought they were landing right on the highway. They made no sound and there were no lights or markings visible on any of the objects. We estimate the size of these objects to be about three times the size of a commercial aircraft. There were two other's who witnessed this event. Both were heading north on Hwy. 95.; One in a car and the other was driving a Semi Truck. They each stopped, as we did, to watch the objects. After a few minutes, the objects shot straight up and disappeared from sight. My wife and I walked over to see if we could get the names of the two other witnesses, but as we approached them they each got in their vehicles and left. We did get their license plate number's and the name on the side of the truck. We will include them in a separate E-mail. - Greg & Linda S

Sighting Date:: 3/29/99 - 11:30 PM - Reported: 4/4/99
Location: 25 miles east of Reno, NV.  (I - 80) - Shape: Triangular - Size: Approx. twice the size of a 747 aircraft
Description of event:
My wife & I were heading home after a short vacation in Reno. My wife noticed the strange object first. She commented, Look how low that plane is, hope their not in any trouble. A few moments later it was right over us and we were able to see that it was not a commercial or military aircraft. At least not any I'm familiar with. This object/craft was at least twice the size of a 747 airliner. It seemed to be floating rather than flying. Almost as if it were defying gravity. Having spent several years in the Air Force, I have a good idea of what a plane can and can not do. Shortly after it passed overhead, it vanished from sight. There were no lights on it, nor did we hear any sound coming from it.
