Event Description:
Actual date other then year, I do not
remember other then it was warm in 1978 off Perkins Pennensula,
Fern Ridge Reservoir, outside Eugene, Oregon
My girlfriend and I decided to go out
to the lake around 0:100. We went to the park side of the lake
where there is no housing. This lake is pretty good sized as I
remember it.
We were sitting along the shore in the
grass, talking and admiring the lights across the lake and the
very clear nights sky.
All the stars you could possibly see
with the naked eye, seem to be out that night, and they all had a
far off white twinkle to them. Every star looked about the same
except one, which was orange way off like the others. We watched
it for a while wondering why it would be orange or even what it
was.
I not know how much time had elapsed
since first sighting it until it started to move, mostly because
we were spellbound I guess on what we were seeing. This object
came down towards us and ended up hovering over the lake about a
hundred yards out from us. This was unbelievable to us and we
really had a hard time registering this in our heads.
Our initial reaction was screaming and
yelling about what was in front of us. I guess it stayed in front
us long enough for our initial reaction to wear off. Shock and
astonishment took its place.
It was over the lake about 15 feet
above the surface. It was elongated in shape with no defined
edges. The best way to explain what I mean by no defined edges is
to remember the computer mock up by NASA of the space shuttle
coming back to earth and how the nose of the shuttle was radiating
heat so much that you could not see the defined edge but you knew
what shape it was.
This object hovered for I do not know
how long, for I was not timing it. I was too busy watching it in
disbelief. I did take some mental notes about it as I replayed it
time and time again in my mind. It cast a refection over the lake
while it hovered, it did not make any noise that I could hear, it
did not change the lap against the shore of the lake and it looked
very hot although I did not feel any heat generate off of it.
Eventually it rose back to the nights
sky approximately where we initially had first seen it, this seems
rather rapid almost dream like in its movement. Then once up there
it split into two and one object stayed while the other jetted
away extremely fast. When the first object was gone, the other
object went just as fast in the opposite direction.
Seeing something like this has a
tendency to overcome you and your perceptions of life on this
planet. I would not trade this experience for anything and to this
day my blood still rushes through me when I relive this in my
mind.
Sincerely,
R.W.G
Reported By: Mike W. - Aloha, Oregon - June 15,
2004 Reported By: Holly G. - Beaverton, Oregon. - May 18, 2001 at 00:53:25 It was triangular shaped, completely black body with 6-8 lights coming out the bottom. The lights were white and that was the first thing that struck me as odd - most helicopters, planes etc., have green and red directional lights also, this did not. It was traveling the opposite direction as my vehicle and it was now over head and to my left. I pulled over and turned off my truck. It made absolutely no sound and creeped-hovered I would say, if it had been on ground it would have been traveling about 7- 10 miles an hour. It was very large, somewhere around 300-500 ft long with the triangle point "tip" to back being slightly longer. It moved out of my view, so I started up my truck and continued up the hill to turn around and get a better view. I turned and parked on Cooper Mt. This has an expansive view of over 30 miles across valley. I watched the object slowly move across Aloha/ Beaverton area toward Hillsboro Airport. Within one mile of the airport, it all of a sudden banked hard to the East and right around back toward me (the direction it had just been.) I decided I didn't want to hang around to see if it was coming back for me, so I left as fast as I could to the barn to check on my horse. As I drove another 2 miles along Cooper Mt. I watched as the object continued flying fast and slow across the Beaverton area. After I was finished at the barn approx. 9:15 PM I headed back home the way I came... Miller Hill Rd. I was searching the sky the whole way and did not see it again, until I was at the top of Miller Hill Rd. again, now turning downhill. I spotted it up to my right over Beaverton city limits and it was now at about 2000 ft and cruising now a bit faster. I watched it fly out of site. When I got home, I told my husband that I think the military is playing games with their new toys, and told him the rest of the story. 10 mins. later I went onto my back porch to smoke a cigarette and saw a black helicopter (making noise) flying low and searching the area. I do vaguely recall two people walking their dog uphill on the first sighting, but I was too awestruck with what I was seeing to go talk to them or even ask if they could see it too. I was in my own little world at the time. I felt it was a military space craft until I then saw an unmarked black helicopter. If anyone else saw this please contact me. We noticed a steady bright white light much brighter then the stars in the dipper, but perfectly steady light moving up and to the right almost parallel to the line formed by the stars on the right side of the dipper. It continued steadily, but slowly moving in that direction. Then instantly started moving directly to the right while keeping the same momentum after being what looked like slightly above the cup on the dipper. Then it just completely vanished, no change in color just from the completely unchanging, steady white light to completely gone. It looked very high in the sky but very bright, and did not have a strobe effect like planes or even the little flicker some stars have. It was completely steady and bright. A little later, my other friend who was further down the beach said she saw another one in the same general area but only for a few seconds and then it to was just completely gone I how ever did not see that one. But all of us saw the first one. It was evening, and just as the three of us were about to get in our car to leave, my son (who is autistic) was looking up at the stars and announced that he'd spotted "spaceship." More interested in getting home than anything else, I impatiently responded "Yeah, yeah...sure," -- but, he seemed really fascinated, and deciding I shouldn't be such an insensitive jerk <g>, I indulged him and looked up to where he was happily pointing (essentially at an 85-degree angle from our position, looking east). Figuring to see maybe the flashing lights of a jet, or a satellite, or even a minor meteor shower or something like that, I certainly did *not* expect to see what I saw! The "object" was a point of white light, rather appearing like a non-twinkling star or planet, but it moved, as if under intelligent control. First, it tracked over to our left (north) at what I can only describe as a "leisurely" speed. Then, it stopped for a bit, tracked upward and to our right a ways (all within our staring, fixed field of vision), then at a slight angle back down again almost to where it was when we initially began observation. Then, my wife's Mom came out the front door, wondering what the heck the three of us were staring at. We told her, and she joined us. But, at this point the object was gone. Anyway, it was bright, it moved uncharacteristic of any earthly craft we've ever seen, and it was a pretty incredible experience (not to mention just a wee bit scary). Whatever the thing was, it *appeared* to be well out beyond our atmosphere and there was no sound associated with it. Just the odd movements (come to think of it, the movements essentially made a triangle shape). Again, the time was between 9:00 to 9:30 PM. The only other witness I know of is a guy from Walla Walla, WA. who I met in the campground we were staying, but they left before we woke up the next morning, so any actual confirmation would be from someone I never met before or saw after. You're the only ones I've ever submitted this to, although I've told many over the years.
After having dinner on the beach this guy and I went around a pile of driftwood to do some stargazing (nothing else!). We watched what looked just like a star "moving around other stars" in erratic sharp turning patterns,
except it would get brighter and fainter as it "moved in & out of light range." We looked away and then back
minutes later and it was still there, but it started to arc toward the south then stopped and continued its erratic movement. We continued to watch until it started to arc again and met another similar light which traveled straight
in the opposite direction.(probably a satellite) We watched it straight above for about a 20 min, looked away for about 5 min, watched again for 10 min before
it started its 1 min arc to about 10:00 in the sky, where it stayed for 10 min and we looked away again for 5 min then back for 2 min until it moved to intercept the other northerly arcing light. We left after they were straight
above us, it got way to weird. Reported by: Martin E - Oregon City, Oregon - November 14, 1999 - 2:57 AM
